There are so many awesome character dining options at Disney World, from a royal banquet affair with Cinderella’s Royal Table to chilling with Lilo & Stitch at the Polynesian’s Ohana .

Living with the Land over at the Land Pavilion is a slow moving boat ride through the history of farming and look inside Disney World horticulturists biggest projects. We think it’s the coolest Science class you could ever take.

As your cruise through Disney’s own greenhouse , you can see firsthand how they are growing produce and farming seafood that are both being served at Disney World restaurants. Including The Garden Grill which is located right next door.

A lot of character dining meals at Disney World are buffet but the Garden Grill is served to your table, family style. Which means you don’t have to worry about missing any friends because you are away from the table grabbing food from the buffet line.

Chip & Dale are the hosts at the Garden Grill since this is Chip & Dale’s Harvest Feast. Mickey Mouse and Pluto also come to your dinner.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served every day at Chip & Dale’s Harvest Feast. Lunch and dinner options are the same and reservations often pop up throughout the day and week, so if you want a nice sit down character dining experience last minute – you might find it here.

Over Thanksgiving, we wanted to see what foods from Living with the Land could also be found at The Garden Grill. We started with a Harvest Garden inspired by all the wonderful greens that grow next door.

A delicious cast iron skillet of cornbread was also served warm with whipped butter. There was also a small veggie platter of celery and carrots with ranch dressing.

In between bites of delicious food, all your favorite Disney friends will stop by to chat and take photos. We loved Mickey’s farmer’s overalls and Plutos plaid bib (below). The character interactions here feel less hurried and it was nice to get pictures without the crowds.

It was the day after Thanksgiving and none of our party had had turkey the day before. So we were excited for what came next. Creamy mac and cheese with goldfish cracker topping, grilled beef with chimichurri and all-natural sliced turkey with homestyle gravy.

There was also a big dollop of home-style mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables (some of which were grown next door).

The green beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned and the gravy was just right. And if you need more, the cast members are happy to bring you another platter. There is more than enough food and we were pleasantly full from our feast. They also have some specialty cocktails, beer and wine available.

If you want to know how to tell Chip & Dale apart...look at their nose! Chip has a small black nose (and two front teeth) while Dale has a big red nose and a big gap in between his teeth.

There is always a Farmer’s seasonal pie on the menu for dessert. On this particular night it was a fresh apple cobbler in a skillet with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. And yes, you can ask for more!

  1. […] Living with the Land is a 15 minute slow moving boat ride and is a lovely and relaxing way to escape the crowds out in the parks. There is also a 1 hours private tour called Behind the Seeds where guests are allowed to take a deeper look into the research facility and learn more in depth how Disney is finding unique ways to grow produce. Afterwards, roam the rest of the Land Pavilion which includes a 4D Film called Awesome Planet and a few quick service and sit down restaurant, The Garden Grill. […]
