We love Disney World, it is definitely our happy place here at Making Magic Vibes. But it can also be overwhelming, especially when it’s crowded. With Spring Break is right around the corner and then the return of summer crowds, it’s good to have an arsenal of spots throughout the parks where you can escape the crowds and get a little quiet time. Below are a few of our favorites.

We think one of the most underrated attractions in Disney World is Tom Sawyer Island. Walking around Frontierland it can get very crowded, so head to the log rafts to find Mark Twain’s favorite hideaway. You’ll hop on the rafts across from Rivers of America and then wander the secret caves and forts once you arrive.

The People Mover has been a saving grace when the Magic Kingdom feels like it’s bursting from the inside out with people. Take a 10 minute tour above Tomorrowland and get a little break from the sun inside Space Mountain.

If you are at either Epcot or Hollywood Studios, a trip on the Skyliner is a great way to take a load off your feet, enjoy some quiet time in your own private gondola and relax in some much needed AC on a hot day. If you start at the park early, a quick ride on the Skyliner is a nice way to do some Disney Disney Resort hopping and grab some lunch at either a restaurant or quick service meal spot.

The Tangled Bathrooms in Fantasy Land near Rapunzel’s tower are much more than just restrooms and stroller parking. You’ll find benches, shade and places to charge your phone. There is also a Pascal Scavenger Hunt when your small humans need a break from standing in lines.

Another underrated attraction is Walt Disney Presents at Hollywood Studios. On a hot summer day we stumbled in here for and AC break but were presently surprised at how few people were inside this cool exhibit. You’ll see a 100 years of Disney history with a nod to the man himself, Walt Disney. There are lots of cool artifacts, original sketches and dioramas that trace the history of the Mouse House. Then catch Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream, a 15 minute documentary which includes a lot of rare, never seen before footage.

Over in Epcot we like ending at the Mexico Pavilion so we can take a load off at The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros. This 8-minute ride is super cute and often has a line that moves very quickly (if there is any line at all). Now occasionally, inside the Yucatan Pyramid can get crowded during peak seasons. But often it’s pretty chill, indoors, has a super cute shopping marketplace and courtyard where you can grab souvenirs or hit up the margarita cart. Snag a table at the San Angel Inne Restaurant and watch the Gran Fiesta Tour boats glide by.

The Land Pavilion at Epcot houses a few different things inside, including our favorite educational attraction, Living with the Land. Yes, people love to ride Soarin’ inside the Land Pavilion as well but we shouldn’t overlook Disney’s evergreen greenhouse.

Living with the Land is a 15 minute slow moving boat ride and is a lovely and relaxing way to escape the crowds out in the parks. There is also a 1 hours private tour called Behind the Seeds where guests are allowed to take a deeper look into the research facility and learn more in depth how Disney is finding unique ways to grow produce. Afterwards, roam the rest of the Land Pavilion which includes a 4D Film called Awesome Planet and a few quick service and sit down restaurant, The Garden Grill.

The Morocco Pavilion is another favorite hideaway inside Epcot’s World Showcase. Feeling like you have stepped into a Moroccan city, you’ll find beautiful architecture throughout as you walk through a peaceful courtyard past the replica of the Tower of Marrakesh.

Morocco is a great place to escape the crowds for some shade, benches and some cool Insta-friendly backdrops. The Spice Road Table Restaurant is perfect for an authentic Moroccan meal. With tables outside it’s also a great spot for fireworks along Crescent Lake.

After an early morning rope dropping Pandora at Animal Kingdom, we head to our favorite Starbucks on Disney Property which is called Creature Comforts. Yes, we love our Joffrey’s Coffee while at Disney but sometimes a Starbucks is great too!. While there isn’t a ton of room inside, there are some tables out front and the line moves fairly quickly. So maybe not really an escape but a great coffee break! The Creature Comforts Starbucks will be past the walkway to The World of Avatar and just before the walkway and bridge to Africa.

When you need a break from the crowds at Animal Kingdom, board the Wildlife Express to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. We’ve never seen it busy on the train so you can stretch out. This chill, 7 minute train ride takes you a little over a mile through animal housing where vets oversee the health and well being of all of the Animal Kingdom inhabitants. Spend as long as you want at the Animal Conservation Station and then take a relaxing ride back to Harambe.

[…] Another great stop if you are spending a day Resort Hopping is The Grand Floridian. This gorgeous turn of the century resort on the Monorail Line might not fit in your travel budget but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy this rare beauty. During holidays like Easter and Christmas you can find an array of displays and the live pianist is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful lobby. It’s so close to the Magic Kingdom on the Monorail, that it’s the perfect place to escape the crowds for a bit. […]
