One of the most popular question when it comes to Disney World is “When can you go when it’s not busy?” Here’s the thing, it seems the popularity of Walt Disney World makes it a place that is ALWAYS busy. However there are still a few peak times when the parks a little quieter, the lines are shorter and hotels and resorts are often less expensive.

Paying for peak season prices for park tickets, Genie +and lightening lanes can be extremely expensive. These expensive add ons are found during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, spring break vacation (March to April) and long holiday weekends (like President’s Day Weekend). Other high seasons to considerJune to August, when school is out for summer vacation.

Crowd calendars would lead you to believe there is no real “Off-peak” anymore at Walt Disney World. Especially with the rise of Epcot’s Festival calendar, the amount of Half Marathons and Marathon runs offered throughout the year and special like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween and of course Christmas. But we have found that slower times with less crowds can often be found after New Year’s in January, almost the entire month of February (except for President’s Day Weekend) September, and early November.

A few ways to begin hunting down down time at the theme parks is by checking the Disney World Ticket price calendar. If the prices are high on a particular date – then you know Disney knows it’s going to be a peak time to visit. We have also found great deals on hotels during these less busy dates through places like Under Cover Tourist and Expedia. Both of these amazing sites offer both on property Disney Resorts and nearby good Neighbor Disney Resorts for a fraction of the price.

If you are looking at visiting Disney during one of Epcot’s festival seasons, try to go during the week. You’ll be pleasantly surprised about how relaxing and fun it can be. Locals tend to flood Epcot’s countries during the weekends, but most days and nights during off peak months Monday through Thursday are often very quiet. So less lines to taste the delicious culinary pop ups and a more leisurely pace to stroll around Epcot’s beautiful grounds.

While Halloween at Disney World and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween takes over in October, a recent trip this year brought low crowds during the day and perfect temperatures to lounge by the pools in the afternoon.

If you are a Disney Foodie Lover, short lines at places like Aloha Isle, home to the Disney Dole Whip, are a welcome site. While Mobile Ordering has made quick service meals and snacks so much easier at Disney World, sometimes it’s nice to just walk up and grab a quick treat without elbowing your way to the mobile order window.

An article on Finance Buzz regarding a study on Disney wait times found some interesting tidbits in their analysis. The average wait time of a Disney World ride is 35 minutes and lasts an average of 8 minutes long. They also found the best time to visit all four parks in in September when the average wait times are between 15-28 minutes. This is the month when kids go back to school so it might not work for your family. but if you are a Disney adult who still wants to enjoy the parks during a warm weather month and way less crowds, this is the perfect time for you!
